Whenever I go to a sandwich shop, I quickly scan over the menu looking for a Steak & Everything Sandwich. It is my absolute favorite sandwich of all time! In fact, there is a place near where I live that has the BEST Steak & Everything Sandwiches in the entire world – maybe even the universe! My husband will attest to the fact that when there is a food that I particularly like at a restaurant, I will come home and set out to make my own copycat version! After sinking my teeth into that delicious sandwich, I began a quest to make the Steak & Everything Sandwich just like I had ordered at the cute little sandwich shop. It took a few tries, but I think I have mastered it now! My secret is a packet of Beef seasoning that I found at the grocery store in the meat department. It has great beef flavor with an almost smoky taste, but it’s not too salty (unlike some dry seasonings!) I’ll let you in on the secret…read on…
Ingredients
- 1 Hoagie Roll, sliced in half lengthwise
- 1 Steak-Eze* (frozen, thinly sliced and shaped steak strips - from Sam's Club or Walmart )
- 1/4 cup yellow onion, sliced
- 1/4 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 1/4 cup green pepper, sliced
- 2 slices Provolone cheese, divided
- 1/2 teaspoon Amazing Taste Beef Seasoning (this is my secret!)
Instructions
- Prepare the hoagie bun by placing one slice of Provolone cheese onto the bottom half of the bun (cut the slice in half to fit.) You could toast it if you want to...
- Over medium heat, saute the sliced onions, mushrooms and peppers in a skillet for about 2 minutes. Using your spatula, slide the veggies to the side of the pan and add the frozen patty of SteakEze.
- Allow it to sit in the hot pan for about 2 minutes. Sprinkle the Amazing Taste Beef Seasoning over the veggies and meat.
- By now the frozen meat is thawing on the hot pan and you can use a fork to break up the meat patty. Stir the meat with the sauteed vegetables until the meat is no longer pink (It doesn't take long, just a minute or two.)
- Tear up one slice of the Provolone and add the pieces into the hot meat mixture. It will melt right in.
- Spoon the hot steak and everything onto the prepared bun. (The hot mixture will melt the Provolone slice on the bun!)
