A few years ago, my mom gave me one of these cute little candy scriptures. It had been given to her by someone at church right before Christmas. Such clever idea! I wish I knew who came up with this cute thing, so I could give proper credit.
I made up a few to give away and have put together the instructions on how I made mine. I have also attached a pdf printable with the tiny little scripture story of Jesus’ birth found in Luke 2 : 11-15. Click on the link at the bottom of the page to download it and print it.
You will need:
Hershey’s Nugget Chocolate Candy
Black Cardstock
Red String or Embroidery Floss
Printed pdf (link at bottom of page)
White Glue
Glue Stick
For each set of scriptures, cut a piece of black card stock into a 2 x 1 1/2″” piece. Cut a piece of red string or floss about 4-5″ long and glue it to the center of the small black rectangle as shown below.
Glue 2 Hershey’s Nuggets with white glue to the black cardsock piece as shown in the photo below.
Allow to dry. Then cut the pdf printable scripture story. (You will need to trim it carefully to fit.) Fold in the center, crease it and spread glue stick onto the back of the printable and press evenly onto the candy.

Oh, I see what you mean. I think it is just a reflection of the gold wrapper. There is actually nothing between them. I hope you enjoy them! Aren’t they cute?
Are these edible?
Yes they are edible. Since they are completely wrapped in the gold foil wrapper, the glue won’t come in contact with the chocolate.
When I print the text is very small, unable to read. Could you possible increase the size or tell me what program you created it in? So cute!!!

These little treats hold a message that is true,
It’s all about God’s love and salvation for me and you.
God loves you so much that a long time ago,
He sent His very son to defeat our foe.
This enemy’s the devil, who leads us into sin,
Our sin is what blocks heaven’s gates, so we can’t enter in.
But, a baby born in Bethlehem, sinless and so pure
Was the gift of God’s own Son, a gift of love for sure.
This baby’s name is Jesus, and He grew up into a man.
He lived a sinless life to fulfill God’s plan.

“God, guide us in life to follow your Son,
And take us to heaven when our work on earth is done.”
So, Jesus came for an incredible reason,
He came because He loves you …so celebrate Him this season!

I love these! I have just recently made some for my activity day girls to remind them to read the scriptures. I enjoyed your tutorial, the pictures were so easy to follow. Could I offer just a variation or two? To speed up the process here is what I do; Instead of card stock I often use felt, black or brown (whichever I have), Then I discovered that double sided tape is quick and easy for putting the scripture paper onto the top of the nugget (it won’t wiggle & it saves drying time). I attach the scripture paper first then with a piece of regular tape I attach the ribbon or yarn to the back of the two nugget unit, run a bit of tacky glue down the middle fold and press the red yarn, ribbon, or floss onto it. When this is all done I turn it over, put a few drops of glue on the bottom at the 8 corners and place in onto the felt and it is done. I hope this is understandable. Thanks for the fun verse ideas.

Are there any instructions on how to make the scripture?
I am on a committee planning a craft retreat for late October. Our theme is All Things Christmas. The retreat is from Friday after work until Sunday afternoon. We have a speaker for Sunday morning. Each morning we leave a little treat at their crafting table. This will be perfect. I’ve done similar for a Ladies retreat and it was well received. Thanks for sharing and providing a download for the scriptures.
