As you may know, my favorite Christmas treat is the easy 7 minute microwave caramels recipe or the Homemade Twix Bars (using the same recipe). Likewise, my favorite Halloween treat is Black Licorice Microwave Caramels. My favorite new years treat is Vanilla Bean Microwave Caramels. Notice a pattern? Well, thanks to my moms friend who had the idea, I now have a favorite Valentine’s Day treat. You guessed it, Red Cinnamon Caramels.
The recipe is easy peasy.
Microwave Cinnamon Caramel Recipe
Add the following ingredients to a tall glass bowl.
5 T. Butter (sliced into 1 T. squares for quick even distribution)
1/2 c. White Sugar
1/2 c. Brown Sugar
1/2 c. Corn Syrup
1/2 c. Sweetened Condensed Milk
Microwave on high for 7 minutes. Stir every 45-60 seconds. Be careful, the bowl gets hot!
It will get very bubbly. Keep stirring it down.
To test your caramel, do the Ice Water Bath Test. Add more time 30 seconds at a time if needed.
Once the caramel is at the soft ball state, add 1 teaspoon Candy Making cinnamon oil and 1/2 teaspoon red paste coloring.
Stir well until color is even.
Pour onto a silicone cookie sheet mat or wax paper and let cool.
Slice, roll and wrap up.
I got some cute bags to give them as gifts.
Enjoy!
