A few years ago, when my granite countertops were installed, I asked the installer how I should care for them. First, he said, to wipe up spills quickly, especially greasy, oily spills. Then he told me to NEVER use any cleaner with an ammonia or bleach base. (So this means, don’t use glass cleaner or all-purpose cleaners!) I know it’s tempting to reach for the them because they’re probably right there handy and you use them to clean a lot of other surfaces, but DON’T DO IT! Instead, make a bottle of this DIY Granite Countertop Cleaner. You’ll love it and it costs just a fraction of the cost of store bought granite cleaners. Plus, you can make it scented with your choice of an essential oil to suit yourself.
The main ingredient in this miracle Granite Countertop Cleaner spray is rubbing alcohol. Rubbing alcohol is a solvent that dissolves dirt and oil, so it can easily remove fingerprints and greasy spots. It dries quickly so it doesn’t leave any streaks and it’s inexpensive to make. All that aside, I think the best thing about using rubbing alcohol for cleaning is that it is a disinfectant too! Have I convinced you to try it yet?
You’ll need a 32 oz. spray bottle (be sure to label it so you’ll remember what’s in it!) Note: because it has rubbing alcohol in it, keep it away from children and pets. Also, don’t store it or use it near any hot appliances, like a toaster or stove, or near an open flame as it can be flammable.

Great job in cleaning those counter tops. I always love how when I clean my granite counter tops it really brings out the rich colors and hues. I like how granite comes in so many different varieties and patterns. I just installed some in my kitchen and now I am going to finish up with the bathrooms in my home. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks a lot for the cleaning recipe! I also placed a granite counter top in my home and I am curious how to maintain it. This DIY cleaner seems great solution and I am gonna try it out. Best regards
I would like to thank you for the efforts you have made in writing this article.
I justmixed up some granite cleaner..because my new house has them. Since they are a first for me, I wanted a natural homemade spray cleaner. Your formula is ismple enough, but I must take exception to the photo showing Dawn detergent!!! I can’t think of a worse choice of detergent…totally not natural. I prefer 7th Generation unscented, so that I can smell my essential oils. Otherwise, I thank you for sharing!
