5 Fun Christmas Gifts for All Ages

5 Fun Christmas Gifts for All Ages

Black Friday really  pushes thoughts of holiday gift giving in to  high gear.  I do the whole Black Friday thing, and usually get most of my gifts shopping done in one day.  This year, because so many retailers and websites started sales early, I was able to snag a bunch of deals online the week before Black Friday arrived.  I wanted to share some of my favorite gift ideas for 2013.  If you are struggling finding gifts for your family and friends, maybe one of these things could be the answer.

1. Magformers

These are are the coolest building toys EVER! Whether you’re 1 or 81, you will love building, sorting and creating with these things.  My Father-in-law has purchased several sets over the last few years and has a whole drawer full of them.  It is a family favorite and what all the grandkids run for when they visit their house. They are a bit on the pricey side, but if you watch for price drops you can get them for up to 50% off retail on Amazon.  Here is a link to the Magformers Magnetic Building Set if you want to check them out.

2. Spot It

This game is a blast! There are several versions of the game, including a junior version, however, my six year old plays right along with me in the originalt version. This is a game that gets people involved, and laughing and would be a great neighbor gift because the whole family can participate! Here is the link to  Spot It.

3. Despicable Me 2

Maybe I’m biased because I love Steve Carell, but this movie, in my opinion bridges the gap between generations.  I went to the theater to see this movie with my kids, mother-in-law and father-in-law. I honestly couldn’t tell you which generation loved it more.   It is a “feel-good” comedy that leaves you smiling and thinking about it long after the show is over. Don’t be fooled into thinking it’s just for kids because it is animated.  There is good, clean humor for all ages.  The movie comes out Dec. 10th, but you can pre-order it if you want to make sure you reserve a copy before Christmas.  I’ve already reserved mine.  Here is the link to pre-order Despicable Me 2.

4. Elf on the Shelf

The Elf on the Shelf has gained popularity over the last few years, and people have gotten very creative with the ways to use it. Pinterest is spotted with all kinds of Elf on the Shelf ideas. Yes, the purpose for the Elf is to help kids get into the spirit of Christmas, but anyone with kids, nephews, nieces, or even grand kids could really benefit from one of these. They are a fun tradition that our family started doing 3 years ago.  My mom has come up with some really fun ideas. Sometimes I think my kids look forward to finding Grandmas Elf over our own 🙂 Check out The Elf on the Shelf .

5. Personalized Gift Card

Some people don’t like giving gift cards because they aren’t as personal, but I think the majority of people like being on the receiving end of them. Amazon is on to something because they are finding new ways to personalize a gift card.  They now allow you to add personalized messages, photos, and even videos “Jib Jab” style. Amazon is the perfect place to receive one from too, because it might as well be cash. You can buy most anything on that site.  If you are stuck on what to give someone, personalize a video and leave the decision making to them. It’s a win-win.
