relationship with the sun

My love-hate relationship with the sun

Every summer, I re-kindle my love-hate relationship with the sun. I love to be outside!  My whole family loves to be outside, and we are as often as possible.  The problem is rooted in the fact that my husband and kids were blessed with skin like unto a vampire.  Yes, really, a vampire. Five minutes in full sunlight and they are as red as a rose. I have never been prone to sunburns, so when I married my fair skinned sweetheart, my outlook on the sun changed dramatically.  I used to tease him about his full brim hats, and being covered from head to toe at the beach. That is, until I saw the result of a couple bad burns. Now we have an arsenal of sunscreen, hats, shirts, rash guards, and portable shade everywhere we go.  Sounds silly to some, but it is what it is.

We have access to a neighborhood pool where we live. We are there almost every day. We’ve tried our fair share of sunscreen. This year we latched on to Banana Boat® sport sunscreen spray. I’m telling you people; this sunscreen is so, so, so good.  It dries quickly, so when I have to get my kids out of the pool to re-apply, and they are back in business in no time.

We recently went on vacation to Las Vegas.  I know, Las Vegas probably isn’t the first location you think to take a family, but man we had a blast.  The weather was great, the water was nice, and because the family was protected, we got to make the most of our time in the sun. A win-win for all of us.

If you or your family members have fair skin, you need to try Banana Boat® Sport spray. It has been a game changer for us. You can follow them at @bananaboat #BBBestSummerEver
