Chuck E. Cheese’s Birthday Party Planning Guidechuck-e-cheese-birthday-party-planning-guide

When you think back to your childhood, can you remember the day-to-day? I can’t. What I remember was the experiences that we had as a family. I remember driving to Yellowstone in an RV, running through the sprinklers with DIY garbage bag ponchos and going to places like Chuck E. Cheese’s. I try to give my kids as many memorable experiences as I can so that they can have the fun memories like I have.

This year as a fun family party, we went to Chuck E. Cheese’s. It was not anyones “real” birthday, but we decided to have an annual un-birthday party to celebrate all the grandchildren’s birthdays at one big party. It was a night that I am sure will not be forgotten. We chose the super star package which means that every kids got 2 pieces of pizza, a collectable cup, 45 tokens and drinks. We also upgraded everyone as an additional birthday star so that they all got 1000 tickets, a chance to earn more in the ticket blaster booth and they all got personalized themed gifts. This was the way to go.

Our FAVORITE part was watching each child go in to the ticket blaster. Everyone gathered around and cheered for each other. Three adults got to fill in for timid/small children and it was just as much fun for the adults as it was for the kids. Plus everyone loves watching the silly aunt.

Packages for a Chuck E. Cheese’s Birthday Party

This image is pulled from www.chuckecheese.com. It is a super helpful tool to compare the packages. At first, I thought about doing just the basic star package for our party. Seeing that each child gets a collectable cup, 15 extra tokens and that the birthday star(s) get 1000 tickets to spend helped me to decide to upgrade to the Super Star Plan for our family un-birthday party.

Note that pricing may vary by location and was updated as of 1/9/17.

Tips for a Chuck E. Cheese’s Birthday Party

Bring enough help. Chuck E. Cheese’s is fun for all ages. As the party host/hostess you will have a bit of time away talking to the greeter as they brief you on how the night will go, as you order the pizza flavors,  take pictures and direct the children between events and activities. Depending on the ages of the children, make sure that you have enough supervision and help. We had 14 kids from ages 1-12 and fortunately 12 adults to help out. Even though Chuck E. Cheese’s has great safety protocols, it would have been very difficult to host that many small children at once. I recommend inviting the parents of small children.

Bring your camera fully charged with enough storage space. These birthday parties have so many amazing photo opportunities. Make sure to bring your camera ready to go to document these memories.

Have an orientation speech for larger groups.  There is so much fun to be had, that the kids may just want to grab their tokens and scatter. If they have already set up your tables and brought out your tokens, it will help your night go so much smoother to tell your guests the information that your greeter just gave you. Tell them for example,

“We have 10 minutes until the pizza arrives. After you are done,  go ahead and play some games. We will meet at the tables at 7pm for the Birthday Show and will do the ticket blaster experience following the show. After the ticket blaster experience, go spend the rest of your tokens and redeem your tickets. We will meet back at the tables when all the prizes are redeemed.”

Save enough tokens for the photo booth. My favorite prize is the memories. The fun pictures from the photo booth are such fun keepsakes. Make sure you don’t spend all your tokens before you say, “Chuck E. Cheese”.
