The Play Cafe

Last year we bought a house. It is perfect for us right now. When shopping houses we made a dream board list of things that we want in a house. When we found this house, it fit the bill. Room to grow and ample storage space was high on the priority list. This house has it. The home that we got has two bedrooms to spare in the basement, which means that we all get an extra place to play. For now, the kids get a bedroom to use for a toy room, I get a real craft room, and my husband gets the whole garage/shop outside all to himself. We are so spoiled. I admit.

For a while, we just threw all the toys in the spare bedroom and re-organized it once a week or so. I had been trying to think of a theme that would help organize and put the space to good use.

When I thought of how to “theme” the toy room, it was no question in my mind what it should be. A little restaurant! When we play at our house, it always turns into little E cooking her pretend food for us. She takes our order, sets the table, cooks her pretend food and serves it. She can do this for hours! She love everything about it, so I created “The Play Cafe” for her and her little brother. Her little brothers favorite activity is eating, so it is a perfect fit.

Many of the items in this toy room were sponsored by IKEA. Thank You IKEA. I love that place. It is so nice having a location so close to me now. When I moved in to my house I realized, that if the furniture in my house wasn’t a hand-me-down or thrifted, it was from IKEA.
