Easy Homemade Marshmallow Fondant - Microwave Version

Do you like the taste of fondant? … … Ya, I don’t either. haha. No, I really can’t read your mind, I just know that everybody likes how it looks and nobody likes how it tastes. I had heard that marshmallow fondant tastes better, and now after trying it, I will agree {but still will eat around it}.

I made this Easy Homemade Marshmallow Fondant for the first time almost a year ago for my daughter’s birthday. I was very surprised how easy it was. So lets get to the recipe.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. First: Place the measured powdered sugar in a bowl and the marshmallows/water in a separate microwave safe bowl.
  2. Second: Microwave the marshmallows and water for 60 seconds.
  3. Third: Stir the melted marshmallows down and return to the microwave for 30 seconds
  4. Fourth: Slowly add the powdered sugar until it resembles fondant. Use a silicone spatula at first, then after it has cooled enough go for it with your hands.
  5. Fifth: Go to town! Shape it up! Roll it out and do what you do!

This is what the process looks like. Just so you know, it’s kinda fun, like adult play dough.

  1. How does this hold up time wise? Could i make flower decorations the day before? Is it easy to work with?

I have found that lightly dusting working surface and fingers with corn starch works really well instead of icing sugar which seems to be sticky. I use a brand new (only for this purpose) BBQ brush for dusting off excess corn starch.

  3. Love this recipe, made it again but used my stand mixer this time with a dough hook attachment. Much easier and less messy.
