A New Way to Ease Sensitive Teeth

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Colgate® Enamel Health™ for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Before I was a stay-at-home mom, I worked in the dental field for about 7 years. I worked with a lot of pediatric patients at an orthodontist office, and a wide variety of ages at an endodondist office.  I saw all kinds of teeth, from all kinds of mouths, that had all kinds of issues. One of the issues that we saw a lot of was the issue of sensitive teeth, and more importantly, people wanting to know how ease sensitive tooth pain.  The cause of sensitivity comes from a variety of factors, including, receding gums, poor enamel, more serious issues, like the need of a root canal, and sometimes, the patient is simply diagnosed with “sensitive teeth” and sent home with some sort of sensitivity toothpaste. Current statistics show about 1 in 8 people suffer from “sensitive teeth”.

As a blogger, I am frequently asked to review new products. I try to only review products that are relevant to me, and relevant to who might be reading this. I was asked to review a new product by Colgate that claimed to aid in tooth sensitivity.  Because of my history with sensitive teeth, and my background in the dental field, I was very intrigued, so I agreed.

I’m fan of Colgate’s new system! The thing is, we all get stuck in a rut with products we’ve used forever.  I was using another sensitivity brand toothpaste because it was fine, and I was used to it, and I liked it well enough, but sometimes you just don’t know what you’re missing out on until you try something new. That is the case here! I’m here to say, the product really does what it says it does.

It is called the Colgate® Sensitivity Toothbrush + Built-In Sensitivity Relief Pen

The system consists of the toothbrush, sensitivity relief pen and the toothpaste. The pen is stored inside the toothbrush at all times, and is ready whenever you need on-the-spot pain relief.

The toothbrush itself was killer! I always buy extra soft because they are the most gentle on gums. This toothbrush was designed for people like me in mind! The Bristles were just right. The head was a little bit larger than the brush I had been using, but was very comfortable, and I felt like it got my back teeth a little easier.

After you brush as you normally do, you take out the pen and apply the pain relief formula. It was very easy to use.  Just a click or two to the right, and it dispenses just the right amount of pain relief gel. You then just massage it onto the tooth for about a minute. It had a nice flavor, and because it is completely safe, there is no need to rinse. You don’t have to wait for it to dry.  When you are done, you just push the pen back in place, and you are on your way. It literally is, BRUSH. APPLY. GO.  So easy!

Along with the toothbrush and pen, I got the Colgate® Enamel Health™ Multi-Protection Toothpaste.  I had never tried this kind, but loved it. Even my kids liked it! The cool mint seemed a little milder than the toothpaste we had been using. One of my favorite aspects is that, both, the pen and the toothpaste contain Colgate’s Pro-Argin Technology.  This technology was previously only used by people like me, in the dental field, but it is now available to consumers. What it does is help block nerve sensitivity as well as creates a seal which, not only protects your teeth, but makes them feel smooth. I kid you not, after the first time I brushed with it, my teeth felt slippery, just like leaving the dentist’s office after a cleaning. With regular use,  it is clinically proven to relieve sensitivity directly at the source of pain.

To give you an idea of what the product is like, I snapped some pics.

  1. I like that the pen fits in the toothbrush, it seems very convenient! I’ve always had sensitive teeth, but I’ve managed to reduce the pain by brushing with softer brushes and taking care of my teeth. I’ll have to give this a shot and see how it works. Thanks for the review!
