We Love Grandma

May 16, 2016 by Ali Leave a Comment

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Disney Junior. All opinions are 100% mine.

we love grandma This year for Mother’s Day, we planned a trip to a lodge in Park City, Utah with my sisters. It was such a fun way to celebrate motherhood before the big day. We went to out to sushi, did mini facials in the hotel room, and slept in! As much as we adore and love spending time with our children, it is nice to have a short overnight getaway every now and then. Our mom, the “Mama” was a bit under the weather and was unable to make it, so we took the opportunity to go out shopping to get the perfect Mother’s Day gift for her. It felt nice to go out to celebrate her.

I’ve only been a mom for a few years now, so I am not used to Mothers Day being a day for me. It feels weird to get gifts and special treatment on Mother’s Day. To me, Mother’s Day is a day for MY MOM whom I love very much. Mother’s Day is to honor the mother and grandmothers that raised me to become the person that I am today. It is for all the women in my life that stuck with me though thick and thin, the women that have cared for me, nurtured me and prayed for me often. As a child, I never realized just how much they did for me. Even now as an adult, they support me in ways that I am still discovering. I am grateful for them. I hope that I can be a mother that my children will be thankful for and look with fondness like I can.

I am told that my daughter has a personality much like my moms was as a child. Grandma has her own personal “Minnie Me”. Aren’t they cute together? DSC_1049

I really do love spending time with my kids. We had a really special day together a few weeks back when we took a trip to Walmart. (That is where E got her Minnie Bow-Tique Fancy Bows Dress with Headband in the picture above and another Minnie dress found here.) The all-in-one dress is great for little E because the skirt, shirt and little sweater are all one piece. At this age, the “oh-so-independent” stage, keeping clothing simple is a must. I also appreciate the all-in-one clothing styles because the pieces don’t get separated and lost. Also, while we were there at Walmart getting her dresses, she got to pick out a toy. It was no surprise what it she was immediately drawn to. The Minnie Kitchen! E has always loved playing “kitchen” so this Disney Minnie Bowtastic Kitchen Playset was the perfect surprise for her. She has a big kitchen playset but she loves the little on because she loves that the sink makes water sounds and the stove makes a realistic cooking sound. You can see her using her imagination clearly with the help of the simple sound effects. The best part of the day is slowing down to take a little while to play with her on the floor. DSC_1109 After getting home from shopping, Grandma and Grandpa Buddy came over. She cooked them some pretend heart-shaped Eggs, Egg Soup and Minnie Cupcakes.
