Pineapple on the Grill

June 4, 2014 by Becky Leave a Comment

Pineapple on the Grill

If you have never been to one of those Brazilian Churrasco Restaurants, you are missing out on one of the most delicious meals of your life. There are so many kinds of grilled meats to choose from. I love it when the server brings the skewer of the big whole, grilled pineapple to our table. When he slices off some of the hot, caramelized, sizzling pineapple onto my plate, I think I have died and gone to heaven.  It’s that good.

One lazy Summer morning, I decided to grill our breakfast. I had a nice, perfectly ripe pineapple and some Teriyaki marinade in a bottle. I cut some beef into bite size pieces and marinated the cubes for about 30 minutes in the teriyaki sauce. Then, I threaded the meat cubes onto some wooden skewers that I had soaked in water while the meat was marinating. (Soaking the wooden skewers prevents the sticks from burning while the  meat is on the BBQ.)

To make delicious grilled pineapple:

The most important thing is to start with a ripe, flavorful pineapple. Click HERE for tips on how to pick the perfect pineapple!

Cut the fresh, ripe pineapple into spears (or thick rings) and rub some brown sugar over all sides.

Lay the spears or rings onto the grill for about 4 – 5 minutes on each side while the meat was cooking (on medium heat.)

Mmmm…the pineapple spears will be all caramelized and sweet and taste just like a Brazilian Churrasco Restaurant!
