Showers are no fun to clean. How many of you have successfully trained your family to use a squeegee to clean the water spots off the shower walls before getting out? I have tried. This is a quick, easy way to get the water beads off the shower walls and clean it at the same time, without scrubbing! This same type of spray cleaner can be purchased in most stores near the cleaning supplies. When I used to buy it, I would go through a bottle every couple of weeks. This costs only pennies per bottle and really does the trick! These ingredients can be purchased in any grocery store.
Here are the things you’ll need (you may already have these at home.)
Into a large spray bottle, measure:
1/2 cup of Hydrogen Peroxide
1/2 cup Rubbing Alcohol
4 – 5 drops Dawn, Palmolive (or other liquid dish detergent)
2 teaspoons Dishwasher Rinse Aid (like Jet-Dry)
1 1/2 cups water
Shake gently to combine the ingredients. Label the bottle and be sure to keep it out of the reach of small children. (I actually drew measurement lines so that when I make a fresh batch, I don’t need to get out the measuring cups every time!)
You’ll want to start with a clean shower. So give it a good scrub first. After showering and exiting the shower, start at the top of the shower and quickly spray the walls of the shower, including the glass door. Be sure it gets into the corners as well. The rinse aid helps the water beads sheet off and the other ingredients inhibit the growth of bacteria! This spray does not completely eliminate the need to clean your shower, but it will make it a lot easier to clean. There will be less hard water build up and other gunk!
If you’re not sure about how this spray will work on your shower’s surface, be sure to test it in a small inconspicuous area first. Please use caution when mixing chemicals. Keep away from eyes and be sure to always exercise caution when entering and exiting the shower.
