FAMILY: I met my husband country dancing of all places. I am not a dancer. Luckily, he had some skills. He just whipped me around, and my long hair whipped him back. Our first date was ice skating. When we were getting our rental skates when he saw some ridiculous looking helmets hanging on the wall that were obviously not part of the rental attire. He asked if we could use them. Where a lot of girls would have been completely embarrassed, wearing those silly helmets was one of my favorite things about the whole night. He was funny and goofy like me. Most people who knew us, said we had found the male or female versions of ourselves. We are now married, and have two boys and a girl who we absolutely adore. They are consistently proving that they got a lot of our goofy genes. Dinner time gets pretty silly at our house, and it is not uncommon for us to play funny games, and giggle until tears appear.
PLAY: I am a firm believer in play time. I have always been a very active person. I played competitive sports throughout my youth. Soccer was my favorite, and I went on to play at a collegiate level until a knee injury sent me down another path. Because of that injury, I ended up moving to Salt Lake where my passion for competitive sports transitioned to a great love of hiking, biking, skiing, and sledding, yes, sledding. I still gather friends for mountain adventures as much as possible. That being said, I love, love, love the ocean. When I was young, our family had an annual trip to a beach house in California, and it became a part of me. In another life, I would be a professional surfer; never do my hair and raise my family right on the beach. But alas, it is not to be. I could never leave my mountains.
FOOD: I love to cook, especially for others. I love mastering recipes and sharing the love. Blogging has been a great outlet for this in my life. Since I cook so much, when we do actually go out, we will usually hit a Thai, Indian, or sushi place, because I don’t often make those foods at home.
MUSIC: I play the guitar, and oh, how I wish I could sing. I LOVE music, and seeking out new, unique artists. Raw, acoustic folk or indie rock usually speak to me, I’ll listen to county a lot in the summer when I’m feeling nostalgic. On the other end of the spectrum, my workout tracks are usually a compilation of whatever the top pop songs are at the moment.
STYLE: A lot of my close friends are very hip ant trendy as far as fashion goes, I’m a tee-shirt and jeans type of girl. I branch out a bit for church or special occasions, but on a typical day, if I’m not still in my workout clothes, you’ll find me in something ultra simple and comfy.
SOMETHING UNIQUE ABOUT ME: If a costume party is thrown that is not in the month of October, chances are, I am behind it. I love dressing up crazy, and not just for Halloween. The funnier, uglier, or more obscure the costume, the better. Basically anytime Tiny Fey played a younger version of herself in 30 Rock, that was my inspiration (sorry husband and family).
